Jebel Shams, located in Alhajar Range of Mountains, is the highest mountain of Oman. This mountain includes two important mounts and is more than 3000 meters high.

Jebel Shams Mountain is so famous for its stunning landscapes. Standing on top of the mountain, you can watch a glorious view to Wadi Ghul, the largest valley in the Arabia Peninsula. The inhabitants of the surrounding villages are the first ones in the country who see the sunrise. That is why it is called Jebel Shams (literally means the mountain of sun).

With a height of 2500 meters, Jabal Al Qamar is the highests mountain in Dhofar Range. This mountain, located in the western face of Dhofar Governate, is 70 meters long and stretches towards the southwest. In addition, it offers a great view to the sea due to being adjacent with the coastline. Jabal Al Qamar literally means the mountain of moon.

Samhan Mountain

Samhan Mountain lies on the eastern side of Salalah. This mountain is 2100 meters high above the sea level and considered as one of the touristic attractions of Salalah. This mountain has a lot of gorges, some of which are 1000 meters deep.

This mountain has a diverse fauna. Because the springs and narrow streams existing in this area are the source of water for animals living in the region. So, different animals such as Arabian Gazelle and fox, as well as Arabian Leopard, live in this mountain.

Natif-Hasik is a waterfall in Dhofar Mountain, which originates from Samhan Mountain. Natif (literally means distillation) has been attributed to this mountain because of the water droplets falling from the mountaintop.
